The Institute for Asian Crime and Security (IACS) condemns the escalating violence and ongoing harassment directed at Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). The IACS stands in solidarity with community leaders, law enforcement, first responders, and educators who are actively engaged in anti-racist action and serving the needs of the most vulnerable members of the AAPI community. The recent escalation of anti-AAPI violence is not simply a matter of individual acts of racism or misogyny. The crimes and other acts of hate and bias that happened recently have no place in our community. The IACS urges members of our community to report hate-based crimes to either local or federal law enforcement. A criminal act against Asians, or anyone else, because of their ethnicity or national origin is a hate crime. We express our deepest sympathy to the families of the most recent victims and call upon leaders across different sectors and industries to address this urgent crisis together.
